I work remotely full-time. That’s possible at thepublic. That means I don’t have an office to go to when I feel like I’m going stir-crazy working from home. It’s my place to be for work that I can do with less time pressure. Some people find it stressful, hectic, and far too cramped sitting at a small bistro table with their laptop\u2014but I feel free here. The environment inspires me. It lets me breathe and be creative at the same time. My cell phone rings. It’s my colleague who works at the agency\u2014her place to be for work. She finds other people’s chatter annoying and can’t concentrate. She’s already almost annoyed because I’m sitting there and the background noise is too loud. \ud83e\udd13<\/p>\n\n

She needs structure and order, and she finds that at the agency or in her home office. That’s exactly what New Work by thepublic<\/em> is all about. We choose our own place of work and our own productive working hours. <\/p>\n\n

Trust instead of control<\/h2>\n\n

We are convinced that we can achieve our goals through flexibility, self-determination, and responsibility: top employee satisfaction and excellent customer satisfaction combined with high productivity. At thepublic, working hours and presence are replaced by availability and productivity time. All of this only works with trust and a few important rules. <\/p>\n\n

We are a service provider offering 24\/7 service. Customer and team projects as well as deadlines take precedence over personal interests. There is intensive communication between employees in order to exchange information on project progress, deadlines, content expectations, targets, feedback, and criticism. Communication among ourselves and with the customer is very important. This is the only way we can successfully advance projects. The basis for this: trust instead of control. <\/p>\n\n

New Work as an opportunity<\/h2>\n\n

We see our New Work approach as an opportunity to be self-determined, free, and yet\u2014or perhaps precisely because of this\u2014motivated and successful. Always with the awareness that this freedom cannot be taken for granted. Other areas, such as nursing, administration, etc., cannot simply change their working time model just like that. <\/p>\n\n

We are constantly renegotiating New Work. We question whether the rules still fit our working reality. Are we still satisfied, or does too much freedom lead to less closeness? <\/p>\n\n
